ITALY. Blu is one of the best street artists of our time. His style is easily recognizable and complex. He started in the street art scene around 1999 and has painted murals all over the world. Blu is one of those rare artists not persuaded by money or fame as he maintains his anonymity. He chooses to only do projects that is he passionate about. He rarely produces artwork for the retail market as he has not had any releases in many years although he remains very active painting. Blu’s artwork comments on the human condition ranging in topics from social behaviors, political issues, human mentality, and emotion especially vices. His work is extremely thought provoking and often controversial. Blu has also created many video and animation artworks as well that he meticulously plans often over months. In 2018 Blu spent much time to actually erase many of the murals he had created over the last 20 years in Bologna as a protest to gallery selling street art removed from the locations to be sold seemingly with the support of the city. So rather than have his work be removed for profit from their intended space and purpose he covered them in white paint. This is yet another instance of the artist’s integrity. Blu art has graced the walls of streets worldwide and although he is still anonymous with very little known about his he is world famous.
