USA. Retna is a American Graffiti/ Contemporary artist based in California who creates dynamic images largely based on Calligraphy style. He creates beautiful images using his own language which seems to be a mix of calligraphy, hieroglyphs, and graffiti. Marquis Lewis adopted the moniker Retna based on a Wu Tang Clan songs’ lyric when he first started his graffiti career. His artwork has been featured all over the world and he is also well known for creating large scale murals in many cities worldwide. His artwork is mysterious and inventive using colors and unique written word to create complex visuals.
